Gujarati Surti Sev Khamani Recipe- Ami Bhatt

INGREDIENTS |
1 cup Split Chickpeas/Chana Daal 4-5
Green Chillies 1
inch Ginger ½ tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4th
tsp Asafetida/Hing 1 tsp
Mustard Seeds/Rai 8-10 Curry
leaves 1
tbsp Sugar ½ cup
Water 2-3
tbsp Oil 1
tbsp Eno Juice
of 1 lemon Salt
to taste Garnishing
with Sev, Pomegranate Seeds, Coriander Leaves, Cashews, Raisins. |
METHOD |
·
Soak the split chickpeas/chana daal for 4-5 hours in water. Drain
the water out from the Daal and blend the daal into the mixture with green
chillies and ginger. Mix and make the batter slightly thick. ·
Add Turmeric powder, Salt, Asafetida, sugar,
lemon juice to the batter and mix well. ·
Heat up a steamer pan and grease it with oil. ·
On adding eno to the batter, immediately pour
it into the steamer pan. Steam for 15-20 minutes. ·
Keep it aside till it reaches room temperature
and break it into tiny crumbs using your fingers. ·
Heat oil in a saucepan, add mustard seeds,
asafetida, curry leaves, 1-2 sliced green chillies. Once the mustard seeds start
popping, add 1/4th cup water and salt to taste. Add the cooked
crumbs to the pan and mix it well. ·
Serve it hot in a bowl or plate garnished with
Sev, Coriander leaves, Pomegranate seeds, Cashews, Raisins. Enjoy! |
